The next woman of influence on the blog (who isn't an influencer) is Auckland based Simone Rose. Simone is an internationally qualified beauty therapist with a focus on holistic health and the belief that skin health and beauty are intrinsically linked to inner health. Via her salon 'Simone Rose', Simone provides a range of organic products and services. We caught up with Simone, to find out amongst other things, what's on her bathroom shelf?
Kia Orana! I'm Simone, I'm 42 and I love anything to do with health & wellness. I eat good food and train hard, I also love learning about how our bodies work and that translates into my business and personal life. I have an autistic daughter who I love to the moon and back.
Talk us through your morning routine…what time do you get up and what are your morning rituals?
I get up at around 5am. The first thing I do is have a HUGE glass of 50/50 boiled & cold water with a Be Pure probiotic. Then I’m off out the door to Pilates or the gym. As soon as I get back I refuel with homemade granola and a hemp protein drink plus Be Pure supplements for stress resilience and calm. After that, it's crazy time getting my daughter sorted and setting up the salon for the day.
And what’s your skin and makeup AM routine?
Immediately after my morning shower I slather Weleda organic body butter all over the wet skin on my body. Then I start my face regime by soaking my skin with a hot compress to soften the layers for better product penetration. At the moment I’m using the Janesce Organic Age Solutions range which consists of a concentrate, mist and serum… then I apply BLIS Q24® Live Probiotic Hydration Serum and my Janesce moisturiser. Once dressed I apply the Mesoestetics Mattifying SPF 50, then apply my makeup. My makeup is very simple as I like to let the skin shine through!
What about PM routine?
At about 8:30 pm I switch most of the house lights off and create a relaxing atmosphere with calming music. I take some Be Pure sleeping herbs which help to calm my racing mind then its off to feed the skin. First I remove my makeup with Janesce Organic Rose Cream Cleanser, then I start the soaking process again. At night I include my neck and décolletage as the skin becomes much thinner here at my age. Once or twice a week I may use an enzyme treatment to support my skin's natural exfoliation, or a gentle clearing wash to flood my skin with circulation which results in an insane brightness the next day! Then I do some gentle stretching and off to bed at 9:30pm.
How would you describe your skin?
My skin is super strong, bright and resilient as I have supported it internally and externally since I learnt about holistic beauty two decades ago.
How would you describe your relationship with your skin?
I have a great relationship with my skin. I used to hide the skin on my tummy as I didn't think it was up to standard after having a baby, but these days I love my tummy… I have to say this took a long time, but companies like yours who encourage us to accept ourselves and use real women in their advertising…this has really helped me :-)
What must have skincare/beauty products would we find on your bathroom shelf?
Hmmm all of them! If I could only pick 3, I would pick in order of application:
1. Janesce Re-Energising Skin Dew
2. BLIS Q24® Live Probiotic Hydration Serum
3. Janesce Re-energising and Renew Cream
You’ve been using our Live Probiotic Hydration Serum, how has it been for your skin? What do you like about it?
I’m on my 3rd bottle. I noticed a big difference on my neck and décolletage, the skin is denser and firmer. Also on my face it is clearer. I'm very happy, it feels silky on my skin.
If you had to give your (younger) self one piece of skincare or beauty advice, what would it be?
Be gentle and take care of your skin's natural barrier.
Finally, any major skincare or beauty regrets?
Yes!! St Ives Apricot scrub… nasty stuff, I used it everyday… unknowingly stripping my skin, creating a dehydrated oily mess!
